Hi, my name is Jamie Flowers.
I have always loved helping people and it was no surprise to my friends and family that I decided that I wanted to be a therapist when I grew up. I have been providing peer support since I was a teenager through various community programs and have been a licensed therapist for a little over 10 years. I gravitate towards experiential therapies because in my experience traditional approaches are for more traditional people and I have always been a bit on the outside. In my own life, things like breath work and narrative therapy have been far more transformative than talk therapy. I can talk myself into a never-ending circle. I think a lot of people are like that so I like to provide options, such as creative outlets, embodied healing and even coaching for those who are looking for a super gentle approach.
It is really important to me to provide a community like setting for my clients, whether that is in radical therapy or biofeedback coaching. Therapy is political and in our work, exploring how complex oppressive systems affects you is essential. I work within an Anti-Oppressive (AOP) Rate Structure with opportunity for financial reparations for those struggling with systems inequality. My areas of focus are the LGBTQIA+ community with Gender Affirming Care, BDSW/ Kink/ Sex Worker Positive and Poly Positive care. I am actively learning about Migrant/ Immigrant/ Refuge Justice and currently do Pro Bono SIJS Evaluations for Project Libertad to support where I can.
As a person, I am a cis gendered queer woman living in a straight presenting household. In my free time you can often find me creating art, reading, and spending time in nature. I love book stores, iced coffee, farmers markets, rainy days and trying on new hobbies.
If you still aren’t sure if we would be a good fit, request a consult and we can discuss things together. Creating change can be a really big deal, so partnering with a therapist and coach can help make these changes less scary and more attainable.
Be well, Jamie
